Second Class

In June, Ms. Farrelly’s and Ms. Dowling’s classes gave a recorder concert showcasing all of their hard work learning the recorder throughout the year. The girls both played and sang and the audience really enjoyed the concert, especially when they could join in with the singing too!

In second class we did a project on India because the Indian Ambassador visited the school. We learned all about schools and homes in India as well as some of their traditions, for example the wedding traditions they have, which are very different to Ireland! We listened to Indian music and did some Indian dance. We also learned all about the Taj Mahal, which was very interesting. We did some paintings of the Taj Mahal and Ms. Dowling’s class did a huge picture of it using crepe paper. We also made clay pots and did some fabric pictures of the saris the women wear in India.

The peacock is the national bird of India. We drew around our hands and cut them out and then coloured them in lovely bright colours. Then we used them for the feathers for a big peacock. Do you like it?
